Blues & Butterflies Music Festival
The annual Blues & Butterflies Music Festival is held one weekend every July at the Roundup Music Venue. Folks (and dogs) of all ages are welcome to spend the day enjoying live music from some of Texas’ best blues musicians. Wondering how “butterflies” factors into the name of this fun festival? At the end of the day, festival-goers join together to release hundreds of butterflies into the wild, making for a spectacular, unforgettable end to a relaxing summer day. Admission is $10 – $17, and there will be food trucks, roasted corn, snow cones, a beer garden, and even a kid-friendly playground on-site.
The Farmers Market at the Cibolo
Ask any local resident about their favorite Boerne events, and they’re sure to mention the weekend farmers market. Starting in early spring and running all the way into December, The Farmers Market at the Cibolo is open just about every Saturday from 9 am – 1 pm at the Cibolo Nature Center. Whether rain or shine, you can stop by every weekend to pick up fresh, locally-grown produce and support local farmers. Admission is free, and most weekends you’ll also get to enjoy live music, educational and cultural events, and plenty of free samples so you can try before you buy.
Movies in the Park
As one of the most popular Boerne, TX events for families, Movies in the Park is a summertime staple. On the last Friday of every month, recently released kid-friendly flicks, as well as classics some adults will remember watching when they were young play on the big screen at the Main Plaza on North Main Street. Admission is free, and though the movie doesn’t start until dark, the grounds open at 7 pm. It’s a good idea to get there early to stake out the perfect spot and lay down a blanket, then you can enjoy free pre-movie entertainment to keep the little ones occupied until the main event begins.
Hot Rod Nights
Since 2010, Boerne-area classic car enthusiasts have gathered two Saturdays a month from March through October for Hot Rod Nights. Free of charge and held in the parking lot of Soda Pops Patio Grill & Bar on Main Street, gorgeous cars and live music are the main attraction here. If you have a vintage or brand new hot rod of your own that you’d like to show off, the lineup process starts at 5 pm. Of course, spectators are always welcome, too, and you’ll be glad you came when you see the delicious burgers and milkshakes being served by Soda Pops!
Boerne Walking Tours
What better way to enjoy a gorgeous summer day (or night) than with a Boerne Walking Tour? Explore the history and culture of this wonderful city during a 90-minute stroll with an expert guide. Daytime tours focus more on the history, architecture, and heritage of Boerne, while nighttime tours dig a little deeper and bring you to historic sites that are said to be haunted. Adult tickets are $19.95, child tickets for ages 6 – 16 are $9.95, and children under the age of 6 get free admission.
